Under the Community Program, the Medical Association for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence, with support of the local Coordination Unit of the Program in Hay Mohammadi, will open a multidisciplinary medical center for the victims of violence, on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
This center, located at Dar Lamane Bd. Ali Yaata, Hay Mohammadi, Casablanca, aims to provide the most vulnerable victims of violence with health and mental health care and kinesitherapy services.
The center’s services will target particularly mentally and physically disabled people and victims of all forms of violence (torture, domestic violence, abuse ...) living in the district.
Several activities are scheduled under this project, including permanent five-day care and kinesitherapy services and the creation of medical teams and social workers to provide support to the victims of violence. Training sessions on the victims’ needs and raising-awareness campaigns to ensure better integration for them are scheduled as well.
The creation of this center comes as a result of the efforts made by several human rights activists and the ongoing support of the Program’ partners (National Human Rights Council, CDG and the European Union), the Prefecture of Ain Sebaa Hay Mohammadi, the District of Hay Mohammadi and Entraide Nationale. These partners make it possible for the Association to use a former police station and transform it to a health care center.
The Community Reparation Program was launched in 2007. It targets areas that suffered from past grave human rights violations.
The Program seeks to realize a number of projects, contribute to the development of the concerned areas and preserve collective memory. It aims to entrench the spirit of collective reparation and achieve local governance through capacity building. It targets several provinces and communes: Al Hoceima, Azilal, Errachidia, Figuig, Hay Mohammadi-Ain-Sbaa (Casablanca), Khemisset, Khenifra, Nador, Ouarzazate, Tan Tan and Zagora.
The Program’s projects revolve around four main axes: capacity building of local stakeholders, positive preservation of memory, improvement of standards of living (services, open-up, income generating activities and environmental protection) and promotion of women and children’s rights.
CNDH Secretary General Mr. Mohamed Essebbar, CDG Delegated President Mr. M’hammed Grine and representatives of civil society and local authorities will attend the inauguration ceremony of the center.
