The results of the Morocco-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee are positive, said, on Tuesday, Moroccan MP Mbarka Bouaida, who co-chairs the Committee with Antonio Panzeri.
Speaking at a press conference in Rabat on the sildelines of the Commitee's 2nd meeting, Bouaida noted that since its creation in 2010 the Committee examined substantial issues notably the agreements relating to the agricultural sector and fisheries as well as the situation in the Gdeim Izik camp in Laayoune.
The second meeting of the Committee focused on the political reforms launched in the Kingdom, she added, underscoring the setting up of a group in charge of examining the advanced regionalization, migration and press freedom.
For his part, Panzeri said the reforms undertaken by Morocco will further consolidate democracy in Morocco.
He also called for fostering trade between Morocco and the EU and simplifying Visa granting procedures to encourage legal immigration and promote integration.
The members of the Committee welcomed in a statement the enlargement of the prerogatives of the National Human Rights Council and adopted recommendations concerning regionalization in Morocco notably in terms of inter-regional equity.
The Committee members also discussed the investment opportunities offered by Morocco in the agricultural and fisheries sector during a meeting with Agriculture Minister, Aziz Akhannouch.
Part of parliamentary political dialogue between Morocco and the EU, the meeting runs until May 20.
The Committee was created under the Advanced Status, granted to Morocco in 2008 by the EU, with the aim of reinforcing ties between the Kingdom and European Parliaments.
