Starting from the center of the red city, protesters, mostly members of the Movement of February 20, joined the Jamaa el-Fna, theatre on April 28 of the bombing that killed 17 people including 13 foreign tourists.
They were 7000 according to a journalist from AFP and between 2,500 and 3,000 according to the Interior Ministry.
"No to terrorism!" They chanted. "A king who reigns but does not govern", "For a new constitution," "Social Justice", "No to corruption", could be read on the signs.
"The attack will not change our mobilization," told AFP Bouchkioua Mina, a teacher, activist of the Movement of February 20, coming from Rabat. She denounced "the insufficient proposals" made by King Mohammed VI.
March 9, after the first manifestation of protest on February 20 (which gave the movement its name), Mohammed VI announced constitutional reforms including strengthening the role of Prime Minister from the polls.
"The king must not be at the center of power and powers must be separated," said the teacher, claiming "the resignation of the government," adding that she has "no confidence in the commission" responsible for proposing and reforms introduced by the king.
